U4 users beware: New tracks will be laid in Längenfeldgasse and Meidling Hauptstraße from 00:30 on April 1 until the end of operations on April 10, Wiener Linien announced in a release on Friday.
For one or the other, probably not uninteresting: An evasion on the substitute bus U4E is possible in this area for passengers.
At Franz-Josefs-Kai, there is a rejuvenation cure for the tunnel ceiling after 40 years. “In the summer of 2023, the last, but also longest section, will be made fit for the future, both for the green line and for passenger car traffic,” Wiener Linien said. To complete all the work in the summer months, when traffic is calmer, preliminary work is already needed during the Easter vacations. From April 1 to 8, only one of the three turn lanes from the Ring onto Franz-Josefs-Kai can be used due to the construction work. At the level of the Augarten Bridge, Roßauer Lände and Franz-Josefs-Kai will be restricted to three lanes. The U4 can travel as usual in this section. Wiener Linien recommends that motorists avoid Franz-Josefs-Kai during this time or use public transport.
Due to the renovation work, line 31 will only run between Stammersdorf and Klosterneuburger Straße/Wallensteinstraße and on to Wallensteinplatz from April 1 to 8. Wiener Linien recommends that passengers change to lines 5, 5B, 33 and the U2 or U4. Line 5B runs at condensed intervals.
Installation of new stairs and elevators at the Matzleinsdorfer Platz
New stairs and lifts will be installed at the Matzleinsdorfer Platz Bim station. The new lift will lead to the U2 in the future. There will be da etour on lines 1, 18, 62 and the Badner Bahn due to construction work in the track area from April 8 to April 10.
Line 1 will be shortened and stop between Prater Hauptallee – Oper, Karlsplatz – Schwarzenbergplatz – Karlsplatz.
Line 18 will only run between Schlachthausgasse – Hauptbahnhof – Quellenplatz
Line 62 takes over a part of line 1 and runs on the route Lainz – Matzleinsdorfer Platz – Stefan-Fadinger-Platz
The Badner Bahn will only operate between Baden and Aßmayergasse during this period.
The replacement bus 1E will operate between the Opera House, Karlsplatz and Matzleinsdorfer Platz. In addition, the intervals of lines 6 and 59A will be increased during the three days. Wiener Linien also recommends passengers use the U1 and the S-Bahn.
