The coming week begins with pleasant weather in Austria, with warm temperatures and sunshine. However, a change in the weather is imminent, ushered in by a cold front. This will bring showers and even cause snow to fall in parts of Austria.
First 29 degrees, then snow returns
The weather in Austria is showing its sunny side at the start of the week. Warm temperatures and an increased southerly wind prevail in the run-up to a low-pressure system over the Atlantic. However, visibility will be somewhat impaired by Saharan dust. The weather will only change as a frontal system approaches from the west.
Tuesday: Changeable weather with showers
The sun will still shine frequently on Tuesday, especially in eastern Austria. However, clouds are already gathering in the west, accompanied by scattered showers. These will spread along the northern Alps during the course of the day, while it will remain friendly in the east and south. The Föhn wind will continue to ensure mild weather, with temperatures between 14 and 29 degrees.
Wednesday: Snow and cooling
Wednesday brings a striking change in the weather. Clouds and rain dominate the picture, with snow falling, especially at higher altitudes. The snow line will be between 800 and 1,200 metres, rising slightly as the day progresses. Temperatures will drop significantly to between 8 and 19 degrees and remain mostly dry in the east and southeast.
Thursday: Calm and sunshine
The weather will calm down on Thursday. Residual clouds and fog patches will clear, and the sun will appear frequently. A few harmless spring clouds may form, but it will remain dry overall. The wind will die down, and temperatures will range between 15 and 24 degrees, with the highest temperatures expected in the south-west.
