At the beginning of the month, April offered a little taste of summer. With temperatures of up to 30 degrees, many people even took to the lakes. Then came the onset of winter—in the west of Austria, a violet warning level was even issued due to the heavy snowfall.
But here in Austria, too, the inhabitants of the greater Linz area have recently been amazed by snow-covered landscapes. But this is set to end this week; meteorologists at Geosphere are forecasting the return of early summer.
Today, Monday offers a glimpse of the spring comeback. In Upper Austria, it will remain mostly dry for a change. There will be a few hours of sunshine in the morning, especially in the east. It will still be frosty in the morning, but temperatures will rise to up to 10 degrees by the afternoon.
On Tuesday, the clouds will dominate again, and the sun will not make it through so easily. At times, rain and snowfall will spread again. However, the snow line will rise from 700 to 1000 metres daily. In the morning, it will remain chilly at minus one to plus four degrees; during the day, it will be up to nine degrees.
It will be cold, wet, and cloudy, especially on Wednesday. The snow line will be between 400 and 900 metres above sea level – rain and snowfall can be expected at times until midday. A few centimetres of fresh snow may fall. The precipitation will then become less and less frequent in the afternoon. Wednesday will also be a maximum of nine degrees.
Snow at low altitudes will end on Thursday at the latest. The air pressure will rise, and the sun will come through again. A few showers may pass through, but it will mostly stay dry. The afternoon will feel very friendly, with five to ten degrees highs.
Friday will finally bring back the spring fever. Although there is still a risk of frost in the morning, it will be much warmer during the day than last week. Temperatures will rise to between nine and 14 degrees, and plenty of sunshine will make the early summer comeback perfect.
