A spectacle in the sky is imminent! This weekend, on the night of May 5–6, 2024, to be precise, we will have the opportunity to marvel at up to 50 shooting stars per hour.
The phenomenon of the Eta Aquariids
Every year between 19 April and 28 May, we can experience the fascinating phenomenon of the Eta Aquariids. During this time, the Earth passes through the orbit of Halley’s Comet, whose fragments burn up as shooting stars in our atmosphere.
Highlights of the phenomenon
The peak of this natural spectacle awaits us on May 5–6, 2024, when the Eta Aquariids reach their zenith, and we can expect to see more than 50 shooting stars per hour in the night sky. But it’s also worth looking at the sky in the days before and after to enjoy this fascinating spectacle.
