The federal government announced on Wednesday, May 15, that the climate bonus will increase by more than 30 percent. Payment will start after the summer.
The 2024 climate bonus will be adjusted in line with CO2 pricing and will, therefore, be higher this year. This was announced by the Federal Government after the Wednesday meeting of the Council of Ministers on May 15, 2024. The base amount of the 2024 climate bonus will rise to 145 euros. With regional equalization, it is up to 290 euros.
Regional differences in transport connections and infrastructure are taken into account. The payout levels are, therefore, 145, 195, 245, and 290 euros. The individual regional compensation can be viewed at klimabonus.gv.at after entering the postcode. As in previous years, all persons who have been registered as having their main residence in Austria for more than six months will receive the climate bonus. The payment is made automatically and without an application.
How the climate bonus is automatically credited to your account?
The 2024 climate bonus is automatically transferred to the account if the current bank details are stored in FinanzOnline. If this is not the case, the climate bonus will be sent by post or RSa letter. Therefore, anyone who would prefer to have the climate bonus transferred should enter their current bank details in FinanzOnline in good time. You should do this by July 10, 2024, at the latest. If the account details have changed, they must be updated on FinanzOnline.
