The weather in Austria will remain changeable over the Whitsun weekend. Showers and thunderstorms are also expected in the coming days, experts Geosphere Austria forecast on Thursday. In sunny periods, temperatures will reach up to 26 degrees.
Low pressure will cause mostly unsettled weather in Austria on Friday. In addition to only brief sunny spells, dense clouds, heavy rain, and showers will dominate until well into the afternoon. There will also be frequent heavy thunderstorms. The wind will be mostly weak to moderate in the north and east, initially still partly brisk from the east to the southeast. Early temperatures will reach nine to 14 degrees, and daytime highs will be 15 to 23 degrees.
Sunshine on Saturday and Sunday
Saturday will again bring much longer, sunny spells. Starting from the mountains and hills, however, some spring clouds will form in the course of the day, bringing with them isolated rain showers. However, the tendency for thunderstorms will generally remain low. The wind will be light to moderate, with early morning temperatures between six and 13 degrees. Daytime highs will reach 19 to 24 degrees.
On Sunday, sunshine will predominate throughout the state. However, locally heavier rain showers may fall during the day, but the tendency to thunderstorms will be low. The centre of precipitation will be north of the main Alpine ridge. The wind will be weak. Early temperatures will range from six to eleven degrees, with daytime highs of 20 to 25 degrees.
Rain on Monday
On Pentecost Monday, spring clouds will form during the first half of the day. From midday at the latest, rain showers or thunderstorms are expected everywhere, which could bring heavy rain locally. Most of the showers will fall over the eastern half of the country. Moderate winds will blow mostly from the north-west to east. Early temperatures will be between seven and 14 degrees, with daytime highs of 25 degrees.
A low-pressure centre will form over Austria on Tuesday. As a result, it will be very cloudy, with heavy rain showers and thunderstorms. In the meantime, longer sunny spells are expected in the north and east, while it will remain cloudy all day in the west and south. Brisk winds from east to south, especially in the north. Early temperatures: eight to 16 degrees, daytime highs: 17 to 26 degrees.
