Vaccinations can be given by registered doctors and in vaccination centers. Appointments can be made from October 28.
Summer is over, fall is coming. And with it, cooler temperatures offer flu viruses ideal opportunities to spread. Vulnerable groups in particular should therefore get a flu vaccination in good time. These include people over the age of 50, people with chronic illnesses, e.g. diabetes, cardiovascular or lung diseases, etc. and people who work in the healthcare system or have contact with large groups of people (e.g. in schools, supermarkets, etc.). The ideal time for vaccination is in the fall, before the outbreak of the flu epidemic. In principle, however, vaccination can also be given at a later date. This is being offered free of charge throughout Austria this year.

“It will start at the beginning of November,” announced City Councillor for Health Peter Hacker (SPÖ) in ‘Wien heute’, ”the first campaign period is until the end of December. Almost 250,000 vaccinations will be available throughout Vienna, free of charge for the entire population.”
Vaccinations will be given in the surgeries of registered doctors and centers of the Austrian Health Insurance Fund (ÖGK). In addition to the TownTown vaccination center in the 3rd district, there will be two further locations in the 22nd district (Schrödingerplatz) and in the 15th district (location to be announced).
According to Hacker, supplies will be provided if demand is high: “Vaccine will then also be delivered to Vienna, which will then be available for December and January.”
Appointments can be made from October 28 via the health hotline 1450 or online via impfservice.wien. Combined vaccination appointments with simultaneous influenza and Covid-19 vaccination are also possible at the TownTown vaccination center.
