Vienna, 4 November 2024 — The European Police Association (EPA) welcomed its newest member at a formal ceremony at the United Nations in Vienna, one of only four UN headquarters worldwide. Founded in 1995 in Brussels, the EPA is a nonprofit association that fosters cooperation among law enforcement officers and security service members across Europe, including police officers, customs officials, and civilians. Through open exchanges and professional development, the EPA promotes a unified European police culture to strengthen public safety.
Mr Heinz Habe, EPA General Director, presented the official insignia to the new member, Sergeant Nazem TARSOUSI, joined by Mag. Hermann Kroiher, Director for International Affairs and Public Relations of EPA Austria and Secretary General of the United Nations Correspondents Association Vienna (UNCAV). Their words highlighted the EPA’s commitment to building connections across borders, exchanging knowledge, and advancing best practices in policing.
Other guests present included Univ.-Prof. Dr. Richard Trappl, Director of the Confucius Institute at the University of Vienna, and Maria Zelda Rojas, both underscored the importance of cross-cultural partnerships within the association.
Following the ceremony, a post-event discussion was held at Arcotel Kaiserwasser Wien, offering an opportunity for attendees to connect and discuss EPA’s ongoing initiatives and upcoming activities.
