The new prosperity index has a few surprises in store: Switzerland is only in fourth place, and Austria is behind Germany.
Which are the wealthiest countries in the world? The HelloSafe portal has analyzed this: Luxembourg, Norway, and Ireland make up the top three. Switzerland follows in fourth place, followed by Qatar, Singapore, and Iceland. The poorest country is Mozambique. Hellosafe’s Prosperity Index is based on six key figures: gross domestic product per capita, Gini coefficient, gross national income per capita, gross national savings rate, human development indicator, and poverty rate.
Europe dominates the top 20, with only Qatar and Singapore in the top 10 not being in Europe. Luxembourg takes first place, followed by Norway, Ireland, and Switzerland. Austria is just behind Germany in 14th place.
The USA and Canada are in 18th and 19th place, while France is in 20th place, behind the Northern European countries and some dynamic Asian economies.
The 20 lowest-ranked countries are mainly from sub-Saharan Africa, which often struggles with economic challenges, poverty, and limited infrastructure. The Central African Republic, Madagascar, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo are among the least prosperous countries due to their high-income inequality and poverty rates.
Yemen and Afghanistan also appear in this group. They are characterized by prolonged conflicts and instability that hinder their development. This situation highlights the great need for investment and development to improve prosperity in these regions.
