Today, Sunday, the day will start with intermittent clouds in the northern and eastern parts of the country. Fog patches will appear in the south, mostly clear as the day progresses. Under the influence of an area of high pressure, the sun will appear in many regions. Especially in the valleys along the main Alpine ridge (the main ridge of the Alps, including Tyrol and Salzburg), the wind will be foehn, while in the rest of the country, it will be weak to moderate from southerly directions.

Early temperatures: Between -9 °C (in valleys and shady locations) and +3 °C, with milder values in the foehn-influenced west.
Daytime highs: Mostly 2 to 8 °C, but up to 13 °C with foehn in the west.
Tough fog on Monday
Monday will bring thick fog or high fog, especially in the typical foggy regions of the north and east (e.g., the Weinviertel or Vienna Basin), which may persist into the afternoon. Away from this, it will often remain sunny, with only high-lying veil clouds visible and hardly disturbing. Towards the afternoon, denser cloud fields will move in from the west but may only cause precipitation after midnight.

Wind: weak to moderate from various directions.
Early temperatures: Between -8 °C and +2 °C, depending on the region.
Daytime highs: From 4 to 14 °C, with the mildest temperatures in the west (e.g., Vorarlberg, Tyrol) and southeast (e.g., southern Styria, Carinthia).
The cold front brings dense clouds and rain
On Tuesday, a disturbance zone will reach north-eastern Austria (e.g., regions around Vienna and Lower Austria). Fog and high fog patches will characterize the morning in the northern and eastern parts of the country before dense clouds and scattered rain showers follow. Most rain is expected along the northern Alps (e.g., Salzkammergut, Ennstal), with the snow line dropping to around 1500 meters by the evening. The snow line will remain higher in the south, and only a few showers are expected.

Wind: Weak, occasionally moderate in the north from southerly to westerly directions.
Early morning temperatures: Between -4 °C and +4 °C.
Daytime highs: Between 5 and 11 °C.
While the Föhn wind will ensure mild temperatures in the west, it will often be foggy in the east. Rain is expected, especially in the north, on Tuesday, but temperatures will remain mild overall.
