Today, it will be foggy in the Danube region and the southeast. There is a risk of black ice in Lower Austria, Vienna, and Burgenland, where it may rain or snow. In the mountains, it will remain dry and foggy. Temperatures will be between minus 9 and plus 4 degrees.
In the lowlands, Thursday will often continue with fog or high mist. However, more and more clouds from a cold front will move in from the west, and in Vorarlberg, it will start to rain lightly in the morning hours. During the day, the precipitation will continue to spread, and in the afternoon, some rain, in the form of freezing rain in places, is expected in the entire northern half of the country. Snow will fall above 700 to 1,300m. In the south, it will often remain dry, but here, too, clouds and persistent high fog will predominate in the basin areas. The wind will first blow weakly from the southeast, turning to the west with the front and becoming brisk in places. Early temperatures are minus 6 to plus 2 degrees, and daytime highs are 2 to 9 degrees.
On Friday, residual clouds from the cold front will move eastwards, becoming increasingly sunny throughout the country. The wind will blow weakly to moderately from the south to west, partly weakly from the east, in the Danube Valley. Early temperatures are minus 4 to plus 2 degrees, and daytime highs are 4 to 10 degrees.
