In collaboration with the University of Vienna’s Department of Social and Cultural Anthropology, the Philippine Embassy in Vienna is pleased to invite the public to a special lecture by renowned Filipino historian, Professor Ambeth R. Ocampo. The lecture, titled “The Philippines, Maps, and the Emergence of the Nation,” will take place on 27 March 2025, from 16:45 to 18:30, at Hörsaal A, Universitätsring 1, 1010 Vienna.

Professor Ocampo, a distinguished historian and academic, will explore the evolution of Philippine identity through cartography. His talk will delve into how historical maps, dating back to the 16th century, have shaped the perception and conceptualization of the Philippines as a nation. Attendees will gain insights into the intersection of geography, history, and national identity through his analysis.
