There is currently an increasing number of fraudulent fake calls in the name of the credit card company Card Complete. Criminals are using spoofing to pretend that the calls are legitimate.

Watchlist-Internet.at is currently issuing another warning about a brazen scam. Fraudsters pretend to be employees of the card company on the phone. These phishing attacks aim to steal sensitive data. The criminals use “spoofing” to simulate a trustworthy domestic number. This makes it look like the call comes directly from Card Complete. They try to trick you into revealing passwords, codes, or other personal data using underhanded calls. This can subsequently lead to the fraudsters getting their hands on your money.

How to recognize fraudulent calls
Requesting personal data: Reputable companies such as Card Complete never call to ask for personal data such as passwords or PINs.

Unusual language: You should be suspicious if the caller speaks a language different from regular communication, such as English or broken German.

Computer voice: A call with a computer-generated voice is another strong indication of a fake call.

Fraud: What victims can do
Have you fallen into the scammers’ trap? It’s best to contact Card Complete directly. It advises Watchlist-Internet. “If you have authorized payments or transmitted personal data, contact Card Complete immediately on 01 711 11 DW 500. The employees know what to do to limit the damage,” say the experts. In the event of damage, a report should also be made to the police.
