Vienna, Austria. 31. May 2025 – The Feast of Santacruzan, a cherished Filipino tradition, was celebrated in Vienna, Austria, by the Fr. Daberto Memorial Foundation (EDABEM), a group rooted in Antique, Philippines. Held in the 10th District of Vienna, the event featured a short but meaningful procession to the hall of the Salvatorian Parish, bringing a touch of Filipino heritage to the heart of Europe.

Santacruzan commemorates the legendary finding of the Holy Cross by Queen Helena (Reyna Elena), mother of Roman Emperor Constantine. Introduced to the Philippines during Spanish colonization, the celebration has become a cultural and spiritual highlight every May, blending religious devotion with colorful pageantry.

In Vienna, EDABEM reimagined this tradition with dignity and a sense of community spirit. Child participants dressed in traditional Filipiniana attire walked solemnly through the streets, carrying symbols of faith and heritage. Reyna Elena, accompanied by young escorts and local supporters, led the procession. Filipino songs and prayers echoed as the group made its way to the church hall, where the program continued with songs and cultural presentations.

This event was not just a religious observance—it was a celebration of identity. For EDABEM and the Antiqueño community in Austria, Santacruzan became a bridge between their roots and their current lives abroad. The gathering fostered unity, preserved tradition, and reminded everyone of the enduring strength of Filipino faith, even far from home. The Feast of Santacruzan in Vienna stands as a testament to cultural pride and spiritual resilience.
