As of July 1, 2025, new ticket prices for Lower Austria and Burgenland will be in effect in the Verkehrsverbund Ost-Region (VOR). On average, prices are expected to rise by 3%. However, there will be no price increases for Vienna.
As of July 1, 2025, the VOR will adjust prices in the “Region” fare zone, specifically for Lower Austria and Burgenland. On average, single, daily, weekly, and monthly tickets will increase by around 3%. Example prices (from July 2025):
Single journey: € 2.20 (previously € 2.10)
24-hour ticket: € 4.30 (previously € 4.10)
Weekly ticket: € 14.30 (previously € 13.90)
Monthly ticket: € 50.60 (previously € 49.10)
Prices in Vienna remain the same
For journeys within the Vienna core zone, prices remain unchanged:
Single journey: € 2.40
24-hour ticket: € 8.00
Weekly ticket: € 19.70
Monthly ticket: € 51.00
Youth and leisure tickets are stable
The youth ticket remains at € 19.60 per school year. The Top Youth Ticket, which is valid throughout Vienna, Lower Austria, and Burgenland, will be slightly increased to € 88.60. Leisure and weekend tickets remain unchanged in price.
Why is there an adjustment?
The fare adjustment is based on the annual price development (Consumer Price Index) and is intended to help secure and expand public transportation in the long term. Despite the adjustment, according to VOR, rail travel remains environmentally friendly, safe, and often more cost-effective than driving a car.
