Saturday: The hottest day of the year so far
Today, Saturday, temperatures in many regions are expected to reach between 26 and 34 degrees. In the west, especially in the Inn Valley and Walgau (Vorarlberg), local temperatures of up to 35 degrees are possible. It will be very sunny throughout the day. Only in the afternoon will a few large cumulus clouds form in Tyrol and Vorarlberg. In these two western provinces, there may be heat thunderstorms, occasionally heavy. It will remain dry in the other regions. It will also stay warm in the mountains: at an altitude of 2,000 meters, temperatures will range between 14 degrees on the Schneeberg (Lower Austria) and 21 degrees in the Ötztal Alps (Tyrol). The wind will be weak to moderate and mostly from a north-easterly to south-easterly direction. Typical valley winds are expected to develop again in the Alpine valleys.
Sunday: Still summery, but thunderstorms in the west. Sunday will also start friendly and warm. Temperatures will rise to 25-33 degrees. The highest values will shift slightly to the east. At an altitude of 2,000 meters, 15 to 20 degrees can be expected. Clouds will gather in Vorarlberg (in the far west of Austria) around midday. Additional thunderstorms are expected to develop in the afternoon in both areas. These may be locally heavy. In the evening, the thunderstorms will also spread to Upper Carinthia and Upper Austria. During the night, individual thunderstorm cells may move east of Austria. There is a local risk of severe weather, particularly due to heavy rainfall.
Monday: Changeable with rain and wind
At the beginning of the new week, the weather will show its unstable side. Heavy rain and thunderstorms in places. As the day progresses, the weather is expected to calm down, especially in the western half of the country. Sunny spells are also possible there in the afternoon. Temperatures will be significantly lower than on previous days, ranging between 18 and 28 degrees. The wind will freshen noticeably and come from the northwest.
Tuesday: More sun again, but cooler
The sun will shine more frequently again on Tuesday. Only isolated rain showers are still possible. Temperatures will rise to between 20 and 27 degrees. It will remain partly windy in the east; otherwise, it will be mostly calm.
