To mark its 35th anniversary, the Film Festival on Vienna’s Rathausplatz has an entirely new look: with an open-plan design, five imposing screens, new seating areas and, for the first time, catering directly in the cinema area, a place to linger, enjoy and discover—with free admission, right in the heart of Vienna.
Musical diversity with structure—the new weekly program
In 2025, the Film Festival will follow a clear weekly schedule for the first time: from classical music on Mondays to musicals, jazz, and rock on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and major pop concerts on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays—each day will bring its unique sound. Sunday belongs entirely to opera, curated by the Vienna State Opera. High-quality concert recordings from ORF III complement the varied program on the big screen.
Cultural highlights in the open air
From Netrebko, Strauss and Mahler to Billie Eilish, Harry Styles, Katy Perry, Coldplay, Dua Lipa, Bruce Springsteen, Whitney Houston, Austria 3 and many more: the Film Festival 2025 brings musical highlights from classical music, pop and rock to the Rathausplatz—up close, under the open sky and with free admission.
