September will start with changeable but warm late summer weather.

However, the west is threatened with continuous rain on Tuesday, according to the gloomy forecast issued by Geosphere Austria on Sunday. On Thursday, the sun should be shining again across the whole country before a disturbance zone spreads on Friday.

Monday will bring very sunny weather to the north, south, and east of the country. The sky will often be cloudless, with only a few cumulus clouds appearing in the mountains in the afternoon. In Vorarlberg and Tyrol, the day will start off mostly sunny, but cloud cover will increase from the west and the likelihood of rain showers will rise. The wind will often be light to moderate from the east to south. In the foehn areas and in the south, the wind will be brisk at times. Early temperatures will range between 7 and 15 degrees, with highs between 19 and 29 degrees, the highest values in the southeast.

Continuous rain threatens on Tuesday

Low pressure will increasingly bring cloudy and showery weather on Tuesday. From Vorarlberg to Salzburg and Upper Austria, it will be cloudy from the early morning with repeated rain showers. In the south and east, however, the day will start with intermittent sunshine before it is replaced by advancing clouds. The clouds will increase the risk of heavy showers and thunderstorms. The wind will be light to moderate, but brisk at times in the Danube region. Early temperatures will range between 10 and 17 degrees, reaching 15 to 27 degrees during the day. The lowest temperatures are expected in the west with continuous rain, and the highest in the southeast.

In the eastern half of the country, remnants of a disturbance may initially bring more clouds on Wednesday, with some rain in places in the mountains. However, as the day progresses, there will be a widespread mix of sun and clouds, with only a slight increase in the likelihood of showers in the afternoon. However, thunderstorms are likely again, especially in the southeast. The wind will still be moderate in the east, blowing from the west to northwest, but elsewhere it will be rather light. In the morning, temperatures will range from 9 to 18 degrees Celsius, with maximum temperatures between 21 and 26 degrees Celsius, with the warmest temperatures in the east and southeast.

Sunshine on Thursday

On Thursday, the sun will shine across most of the country. The cumulus clouds over the mountains will remain harmless. Only in western Austria is a disturbance expected to arrive in the afternoon, bringing thick clouds and some rain. A moderate westerly wind will pick up here, but elsewhere it will be light. Early temperatures will range between 8 and 15 degrees, climbing to 23 to 28 degrees during the day.

Friday will then be overshadowed by a passing disturbance, bringing numerous clouds and some rain showers, especially in the north and east. However, there will also be some sunshine in between. It will be friendlier and sunnier in the west and south, but local rain showers are also possible here. The wind will pick up to moderate to brisk in the east. Early temperatures should range between 10 and 17 degrees, with daytime highs between 22 and 27 degrees.
