Do you feel the same way? It feels like just yesterday we were putting our bare feet in the grass, sand, or water—and now that summer is over, thick socks are the order of the day. At least in the morning hours, which will really give us the cold shoulder in the coming week: By Friday, we could even see the first sub-zero temperatures in northern Styria, and even in Graz, the highest temperatures will be around 2 or 3 degrees Celsius when we get up in the morning.
At the start of the week on Monday, most of Styria can expect changeable weather, ranging from early morning fog and cloud to more rain showers. Temperatures will range from 12 to 18 degrees.
Of the fresh variety
It will then gradually cool down over the course of the week. Tuesday is already likely to be one of the fresher days, with morning temperatures around freezing. And in the afternoon, with mostly cloudy conditions expected, temperatures will only reach between 8 and 12 degrees. According to “Geosphere Austria,” Thursday will remain very unsettled, especially along the northern side of the Alps. There will be repeated rain showers, and even snow showers above around 1,000 to 1,200 meters above sea level, with shower activity increasing towards the east. From today’s perspective, you should definitely have your long underwear or tights ready for Friday: in Knittelfeld and Liezen, for example, Friday is expected to start with sub-zero temperatures.
Mountain weather
It will be “wintry” in the mountains: hikers on the Schöckl, for example, will not only be commuting between the gondola mountain station, huts, and the cross on Thursday and Friday, but also between minus 2 and 2 degrees Celsius. On the Koralpe, on the other hand, early temperatures of minus 7 degrees Celsius are forecast for these two days.
