The new week begins in Austria with pleasant and mild weather, partly due to the foehn wind, before a significant change sets in towards the middle of the week. From Thursday onwards, a storm front over the North Sea will spread across Central Europe, bringing rain, showers, and increasingly stormy westerly winds, as Geosphere Austria announced in its forecast on Sunday.
On Monday, numerous cloud fields will move in from the west. The sun will appear intermittently, especially in the afternoon, with isolated rain showers possible in the west. Winds will be moderate from the east to southeast and brisk in the eastern region and in foehn sections of the northern Alps. Early temperatures will range between zero and eight degrees Celsius, with highs between eight and 19 degrees.
Tuesday will remain predominantly dry, with only intermittent rain on the southern side of the Alps. Clouds will accumulate, particularly in East Tyrol and Carinthia. Elsewhere, high and medium-high cloud fields will pass through, with the sun appearing intermittently. The wind will be light to moderate from the southeast to southwest, with a slight foehn wind in the mountains. Early temperatures will range from one to ten degrees, with highs reaching twelve to 19 degrees.
On Wednesday, a few dense cloud fields are expected due to a weak disturbance. The sun will only appear intermittently, and isolated raindrops cannot be ruled out in the west and north. In the eastern half, fog and high fog fields will persist at first. The wind will be light to moderate from the south. Early temperatures will range between two and ten degrees, with highs between twelve and 17 degrees.
Storm front approaching
As a storm front approaches over the North Sea, a disturbance zone will arrive in the west and north on Thursday afternoon. It will bring rain, showers, and strong, freshening westerly winds. The east and southeast will remain dry until the evening, with the sun shining for more extended periods after the fog clears. Before the disturbance arrives, it will still be mild with a foehn wind. Morning temperatures will range between two and ten degrees, with highs between 14 and 20 degrees.
According to Geosphere, the development on Friday is still uncertain due to the location of the storm system over northern Germany. As things stand at present, there will be a mix of sun and clouds, with little chance of showers. However, there will be strong westerly winds across much of the country, with stormy conditions at higher altitudes. Early temperatures will range between four and eleven degrees, with highs between 13 and 18 degrees.
