On October 19, 2025, at 9:30 a.m., the Parish of Leopoldau joyfully celebrated World Church Sunday with a vibrant and heartfelt Mass. The celebration, filled with music, prayer, and cultural unity, reflected the true spirit of the Universal Church. It was actively organized by the parish’s youth group and youth leaders, who not only animated the liturgy but also engaged the community through a small fundraising initiative. At the end of the service, they offered fair trade chocolate pralines and “Happy Blue Chips” for sale. The proceeds from this meaningful campaign were dedicated to Missio projects in South Sudan, the focus country for this year’s World Mission Sunday.
A special highlight of the celebration was the participation of the Filipino music group “Sanghimig Choristers.” Their soulful and spirited singing brought a truly festive and international atmosphere to the Mass. With a moving repertoire that included songs in Filipino, English, and German, the group inspired the congregation to celebrate faith across cultures and languages. Their music created a sense of joy, gratitude, and unity, reminding everyone that faith knows no boundaries.

The entire celebration stood as a beautiful expression of solidarity with the people of South Sudan and an inspiring witness to the Church’s global mission. It showed how communities from different nations can come together in prayer, compassion, and shared purpose, strengthening the bonds of Christian fellowship.
In addition, the Filipino Catholic Community in Vienna joined the Diocese of Vienna in the solemn celebration of World Mission Sunday at St. Stephen’s Cathedral (Stephansdom). This major diocesan gathering brought together Asian, Latin American, and African Catholic communities, each contributing its cultural gifts to the liturgy. Together, they embodied the diversity and universality of the Church.

May this World Church Sunday remind all the faithful of the precious value of working together for justice, peace, and solidarity. In a world often divided by borders and differences, such celebrations remind us that faith unites us as one family — a Church without frontiers, open to all nations.
