The Filipino community in Austria warmly welcomed Secretary Hans Leo J. Cacdac during a special “Kumustahan with Sec Hans” gathering held in Vienna. The event brought together overseas Filipinos, community leaders, and migrant advocates for an open and meaningful dialogue.
Filipinos shared their experiences, challenges, and suggestions on how government programs could further support overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and their families.
In response, Secretary Cacdac outlined the Department of Migrant Workers’ (DMW) major initiatives, including the agency’s ongoing digitalization efforts, expansion of the OFW Hospital’s services, the AKSYON Fund for OFWs in need, reintegration programs for returning workers, and bilateral labor discussions with host countries such as Austria. These programs, he said, reflect the DMW’s commitment to protecting workers’ rights, improving employment conditions, and expanding opportunities for skilled Filipino professionals abroad.
“Ang tagubilin po parati ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. ay siguraduhing nararamdaman ng bawat OFW ang tunay na malasakit at proteksyon ng ating pamahalaan,” Secretary Cacdac said. “Kaya tuwing may pagkakataon akong makausap ang ating mga kababayan, sinisigurado kong marinig mismo ang inyong mga kuwento. Hearing directly from our kababayans inspires us to serve better. Every story shared reminds us why we do what we do—to make sure no OFW feels left behind.”
The event concluded with a message of unity and hope, underscoring the importance of keeping the Filipino spirit alive across borders through shared purpose, compassion, and connection.
