So-called supermoons occur several times a year. In such cases, the full moon phase coincides with the moon being at its closest point to Earth in its orbit. On Wednesday, November 5, 2025, it will happen again, and what makes it special this time is that the full moon will be at its closest point to Earth this year, making it the largest in 2025. The supermoon of supermoons, so to speak.

The moon will reach its full state over Austria on Wednesday at 2:19 p.m. At 11:16 p.m., it will be closest to Earth at a distance of 356,400 kilometers. To put this into perspective, during some other full moon phases, the distance is more than 400,000 kilometers. In Europe, the November full moon is also known as the “Fog Moon” due to the weather conditions, and in the USA as the “Beaver Moon.”
