Even though the morning temperatures are slowly heralding the approach of winter, the coming days will be bright and beautiful. After fog in the morning, the sun will prevail in most parts of the country until the new week. Only a few clouds may interfere.
Thursday is already looking sunny. Patches of fog will mostly clear up in the morning. According to the forecast by Geosphere Austria, the wind will pick up noticeably in the northeast and come from the southeast. A light foehn wind is expected on the northern side of the Alps. Maximum temperatures will range between 9 and 20 degrees Celsius. The highest temperatures are likely to be reached in the west.
Partly dense fog and high fog patches will accompany Friday morning in the northern Alpine foothills, but also in the south and in some inner Alpine valleys with partly dense fog and high fog patches. Away from the fog, the day will be very sunny, with hardly a cloud in the sky. The wind will be moderate to brisk in the northeast, blowing from the east to the south, but otherwise it will be light. Early temperatures will range between minus 5 and 6 degrees, with daytime highs between 8 and 16 degrees, depending on fog and sunshine.
On Saturday, the morning will also be foggy, especially in the south and in the northern Alpine foothills. However, the fog will mostly clear up during the day. Everywhere else will see plenty of sunshine. From midday onwards, some clouds will move in from the Graz basin to northern Burgenland, spreading northwestward in the afternoon. A few scattered raindrops may be seen. The wind will be mostly light but moderate in the northeast of the country. Early temperatures will range between minus 5 and 6 degrees, with highs between 7 and 15 degrees.
On Sunday, fog or high fog patches are expected, especially from Salzburg to Lower Austria, with a few higher and partly dense clouds in the east. However, these will slowly dissipate during the day. Otherwise, the sun will shine again. Early temperatures will reach minus 2 to plus 6 degrees, with daytime highs of 7 to 13 degrees.
Some dense clouds will pass through on Monday, especially in the north, where the sun will only shine intermittently. There will be some fog in the inner Alps in the west and in the southern half of the country. Everywhere else, it will be very sunny throughout the day. The wind will be light. Early temperatures will range from minus 2 to plus 5 degrees, with highs of 8 to 13 degrees.
According to the current forecast, the rest of the week will also be very sunny in most of the country. As things stand today, Thursday in particular is expected to be almost cloudless.
