As part of the Philippines’ annual 18-day campaign to end Violence Against Women (VAW), the Philippine Embassy—together with the Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO) and Austrian-based organization LEFÖ—announced a hybrid seminar aimed at helping Filipinos identify and prevent domestic abuse, especially in the context of migration and marriage.

The event, titled “Migrating for Love and Avoiding the Pitfalls,” is open to all married Filipinos and those preparing for marriage who reside in Austria, Croatia, Slovenia, and the Slovak Republic. It will take place on 25 November 2025 (Tuesday) from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Participants may attend in person at the Philippine Embassy or join online via Zoom.

According to the Embassy, the seminar will cover crucial topics such as recognizing early signs of domestic abuse, understanding one’s rights while living abroad, and knowing where to seek help in cases of violence or coercion. Organizers emphasized that empowering Filipinos with this knowledge is vital for their safety and well-being, particularly for those navigating new relationships or living far from home.

Interested attendees may register by scanning the QR code provided in the Embassy’s announcement or through the registration link: https://forms.gle/7NRC7sA24D77riVB8.

The 18-day VAW campaign, observed from November 25 to December 12 each year, highlights the government’s commitment to protecting women’s rights and ensuring that Filipinos overseas remain informed and supported.
