If 2025 taught us anything, it is that the Filipino spirit—wherever it finds itself—knows how to gather, create, and uplift. Across Austria, from Vienna’s historic districts to community halls filled with laughter and song, Filipinos spent the year weaving a tapestry of culture, solidarity, and shared purpose. What follows is not just a list of events, but the story of a community that continues to grow in confidence and unity.

A Year That Opened With Purpose

As the year unfolded, Filipino organizations across Austria stepped forward with renewed energy. The Philippine Embassy in Vienna set the tone early by hosting “Migrating for Love,” a thoughtful seminar that addressed the realities of cross‑cultural relationships and migration. It was more than an information session—it was a reminder that behind every migration story is a heart seeking belonging, dignity, and understanding.

This commitment to care and empowerment echoed throughout the year, especially as Filipino groups collaborated more closely with their European neighbors.

Filipinos in Europe: A Stronger Regional Voice

One of the most significant moments came when ENFiD‑Austria joined the Diaspora 2 Dialogue (D2D 16.0) Conference in Brno, Czech Republic. Chairperson Marizel Rojas delivered both the opening and closing remarks—an unmistakable sign of the growing leadership of Filipinos in European diaspora conversations.

In Brno, Filipino delegates stood shoulder to shoulder with other migrant communities, exchanging stories of resilience and shared aspirations. It was a moment that affirmed: the Filipino voice in Europe is not only present—it is respected.

A Flourishing Creative Community

2025 was also a banner year for Filipino artists in Austria. The Filipino Visual Artists in Austria (FVAA) celebrated their 6th anniversary with a vibrant exhibition at Youinion Hall in Vienna’s 9th District. The gallery came alive with color, texture, and imagination—each artwork a testament to the Filipino ability to transform memory, migration, and identity into beauty.

FVAA’s mission of “artists helping artists” resonated deeply this year. Their anniversary was not just a celebration of art, but of community—of people lifting one another so that creativity can thrive.

Christmas: The Heartbeat of the Filipino Year

As winter settled over Vienna, the Filipino community did what it does best: it gathered.

The beloved Christmas celebration returned with its signature blend of faith, music, and generosity. Families came together not only to enjoy Filipino traditions but also to support charitable projects for children and families in the Philippines. The event reminded everyone that even far from home, Filipinos continue to care for those most in need.

Marikit Markt – A Filipino Christmas Market

At Hotel am Brillantengrund, the Marikit Markt transformed a corner of Vienna into a Filipino Christmas village. The smell of bibingka and adobo mingled with the sound of laughter and OPM classics. Artisans, cooks, and performers showcased the richness of Filipino creativity—turning the market into a joyful celebration of identity.

RAMBAK Austria’s Family Gathering

In the 15th District, RAMBAK Austria hosted a warm and lively Christmas get‑together. Children crafted parols, families shared food, and music filled the room. It was a simple gathering, but one that captured the essence of Filipino community life: joy, togetherness, and the comfort of familiar traditions.

Filipinos in Global Charity

The community also took part in the UN Women’s Guild International Charity Bazaar at the Austria Center Vienna. Surrounded by cultures from around the world, Filipinos contributed food, crafts, and cultural presence to support global humanitarian projects. It was a proud moment—one that showed how Filipinos in Austria continue to give beyond their own circles.

Closing the Year With Gratitude and Hope

Looking back, 2025 was a year of movement—of Filipinos stepping into leadership roles, strengthening regional ties, celebrating creativity, and nurturing the next generation. It was a year of shared meals, shared stories, and shared dreams.

But more than anything, it was a year that reminded us of who we are:

A people who gather. A people who create. A people who care. A people who carry home in their hearts, wherever they may be.

As we close the year, we honor every volunteer, artist, leader, parent, youth, and elder who made these moments possible. Their contributions—big and small—continue to shape a Filipino community in Austria that is vibrant, compassionate, and full of hope.
