Ladies dressed elegantly in white and green filled the hall of the Philippine Embassy in Vienna on May 19, 2026, as members and supporters of Babaylan Austria gathered for the induction ceremony of the organization’s newly elected officers. The ceremony was led by Vice Consul and Cultural Attaché Chryzel Sicat and hosted by emcee and Babaylan associate member Marizel Rojas.
The occasion marked not only a formal transition of leadership but also a renewed commitment to the organization’s mission of empowering women, especially Filipinas living in Austria and women in the Philippines who continue to face social, economic, and personal challenges.

Founded as a community-based women’s organization, Babaylan Austria has long been dedicated to promoting women’s rights, fostering solidarity among Filipinas abroad, and supporting charitable and humanitarian initiatives both in Austria and in the Philippines. Through cultural activities, outreach programs, charity events, and community gatherings, the organization seeks to strengthen the voice of Filipino women while encouraging leadership, dignity, mutual respect, and social responsibility.
Following the formal induction of the new officers led by newly elected President Carmen Pacaigue, Vice Consul Sicat delivered an inspirational message recognizing the organization’s continued dedication to service.
“It has been an honor to be with all of you, to get to know each one of you, and to be part of your activities that aim to help women here in Austria and in the Philippines. I know that your strength and dedication to serving and helping those in need will never change and will only continue to grow stronger. Thank you very much for giving us the opportunity to join you in these activities, and we hope that you will not forget us in the future major projects of Babaylan Austria,” Vice Consul Sicat said.
In her acceptance speech, President Pacaigue expressed her sincere gratitude to Vice Consul Sicat for officiating the induction ceremony and for the Philippine Embassy’s continued support of the organization’s activities and advocacy.
She also paid tribute to the past officers whose commitment and sacrifices helped Babaylan Austria grow into a respected and enduring organization within the Filipino community in Austria.
“I want to recognize Imelda Perez-Papai. Thank you, Imelda, for your steadfast service to Babaylan and for your unwavering leadership during challenging times. We are deeply grateful for your commitment and the lasting impact you have made,” Pacaigue said.
Her gratitude likewise extended to Dorcy Aigner for courageously taking on the responsibility of leading the organization during one of the most difficult periods in its history.
“Your strength, patience, and commitment helped keep this organization together, and for that we are truly grateful,” she added.
Special recognition was also given to Rose Neumann, who has generously opened her home for meetings and gatherings over the years.
“Your kindness and hospitality have created not only a meeting place, but also a space where friendships and community continue to grow stronger,” Pacaigue said.
The new president emphasized that the organization will continue to focus on unity, collaboration, and meaningful projects that uplift women and families in need. She pledged to work closely with the new officers and members in serving with integrity, openness, and dedication.
“As we move forward, may we continue to strengthen Babaylan Austria, learn from the challenges of the past, and build a future centered on respect, collaboration, and community spirit,” Pacaigue stated.
Babaylan Austria also announced its major charity event for the year — the Masquerade Ball — which will take place on November 14, 2026, at the Vienna Marriott Hotel. The event is expected to bring together members of the Filipino community, supporters, and guests for an evening dedicated to fundraising and charitable causes benefiting women and disadvantaged communities in Austria and the Philippines.
Through its continuing advocacy and projects, Babaylan Austria remains committed to empowering Filipinas, preserving Filipino values and culture abroad, and building a compassionate and supportive community for future generations.
