Yesterday, for the first time since the end of April, more than 2,000 new infections were reported within 24 hours – just on the day when the government presented its new plan to contain the pandemic. In the future, politicians will no longer be guided by infection figures, but will look at intensive care bed utilization. Infection numbers continue to rise today: from yesterday, Wednesday, to today, Thursday, 2,356 new Corona infections were registered in Austria.
There are also seven new deaths related to Covid 19 infection to report, bringing the pandemic death toll in Austria to 10,822 so far. The number of active cases increases by 1,039 to 19,295. The seven-day incidence is 133.79.
There are currently 664 people in Austria’s hospitals related to covid disease, up 19 from the previous day. 188 patients are in intensive care – eight more than the day before.
In the past 24 hours, 142,740 PCR tests have been performed, with a positive rate of 1.65 percent.
