After more than two years of closure due to the Corona pandemic, most Philippine schools reopened for face-to-face classes on Monday. They were closed in March 2020 because of the pandemic, and from then on, only online classes took place in the island nation in Southeast Asia. Schools were closed for so long in hardly any other country because of the Corona pandemic.
In mid-November 2021, 100 more than 61,000 public schools had opened for two months as part of a pilot. They were located in remote locations and were allowed to offer limited face-to-face classes. The Corona pandemic has further exacerbated poverty for many Filipino families. Millions of parents do not know how to pay their children to attend school. The government, therefore, announced financial aid of up to 4,000 pesos (just under 71 euros).
