Minister of Labor Kocher confirms that all unemployed and minimum security recipients will receive 300 euros in September.

As an additional support benefit, the unemployed will receive a one-time payment of 300 euros from the government. The price starts this week!

Given the persistent inflation, the federal government has already adopted an anti-inflation package with a total volume of 28 billion euros. This package includes immediate measures for the population and structural calculations to provide rapid relief. One part of the primary measures is a one-off payment of 300 euros, which all persons registered as unemployed in Austria will receive.

Financial challenge
The measure aims to provide additional support and relief for this group of people who face particular financial challenges due to inflation. After the first reliefs from the anti-inflation package of the Federal Government were already made available in August, now also the special payment for job-searching persons takes place at the beginning of September.

“The current price increases are hitting people looking for a job and therefore have a low income particularly hard. For this reason, as the federal government, we have worked to ensure that all those who received unemployment benefits or unemployment assistance for at least 31 days in May and June receive a one-off payment of 300 euros as a support payment. Affected persons who are registered as unemployed with the AMS will have the one-off payment automatically and without having to apply for it transferred to their account when their unemployment benefit is paid out, or – if they do not have an account or wish to do so – it will be sent to them by post,” says Minister of Labor and Economic Affairs Martin Kocher.

Payment by September 8
Sickness benefit recipients who were previously unemployed and received 31 days of sickness benefit following AMS benefits are also eligible. People who receive sickness benefits will receive 300 euros from the health insurance carrier.

Payment will be made by September 6 (account) or September 8 (by mail). Around 253,000 people are eligible. A total of about 76 million euros has been earmarked for the measure.
