There are currently travel warnings for Austria from several other countries. It is therefore advisable to carefully check the rules and recommendations in the respective destination country before a possible trip. For example, persons from Austrian federal states that Germany classifies as a risk area must register digitally from 15 October onwards before entering Germany. The registration is to take place via a new online portal, according to the Deutsche Press Agentur (dpa). Vienna and Vorarlberg are currently considered risk areas for Germany.
According to dpa information, anyone who enters their details on the portal will receive a confirmation which they should show at a checkpoint – for example at the airport by the federal police. At the same time, the data is also sent to the relevant health authority. Anyone who fails to comply with their obligation to register risks a fine. Exceptions will continue to be made for commuters and other travellers in small border traffic.
