With Easter just around the corner, many are wondering whether to brace themselves for sunny spring days or changeable weather. We take a detailed look at the weather forecast for the coming days to give you a clear idea of how the weather will develop.
Maundy Thursday: A fresh start with changeable conditions
Maundy Thursday brings fresh air and extremely changeable conditions. Clouds will be moving across the sky from time to time, while the sun will hold its own from time to time, especially in the eastern part of the country. At the beginning of the day, there may be localised rain showers, especially in the southeast of Salzburg. In the course of the afternoon, the rain will spread again from the west and southwest, accompanied by possible thunderstorms. The snow line will vary between 900 and 1700 metres above sea level.
The wind will increase from west to south and reach gale force. Temperatures in the west and southwest will be between 5 and 13 degrees, while they will reach 14 to 19 degrees in the Danube region and the southeast. At higher altitudes of 2000 metres, it will cool down to plus 1 to minus 4 degrees.
Friday: Warm foehn wind brings sunshine
Friday will be dominated by a warm, brisk to stormy southerly current, accompanied by plenty of sunshine and only scattered high clouds. In the southwest, however, dense cloud fields may appear at first, with some rain from the Brenner Pass to the Wurzen Pass. Temperatures will range from 8 degrees in the southwest to 15 to 23 degrees in other regions.
Holy Saturday: Sunny and warm with scattered clouds
On Holy Saturday, we can expect a mostly sunny day accompanied by warm temperatures. Only in the south-west could scattered clouds appear in the sky and cause brief rain showers. Nevertheless, it will still be a day that is perfect for outdoor activities and Easter walks. Maximum temperatures will reach between 16 and 25 degrees, possibly even 26 degrees.
Easter Sunday: Warm, but with clouds and rain
Easter Sunday promises pleasant temperatures, but clouds and rain showers could occasionally obscure the sun, especially in the western part of the country. Nevertheless, there will also be sunny spells that can be used for outdoor Easter celebrations. A persistent brisk to blustery southerly wind could dampen spirits somewhat, while temperatures will vary between 10 and 24 degrees from southwest to east.
Easter Monday: Changeable with clouds and rain
Easter Monday will bring primarily warm temperatures and a few hours of sunshine. However, clouds will increase in the west and southwest during the course of the day, accompanied by rain and strong stormy westerly to southerly wind. Gale-force gusts could even occur, especially in the mountainous regions of the west. Maximum temperatures will range from 10 to 24 degrees from southwest to east.
