According to forecasts by Geosphere Austria, the weather will be rather unsettled next week. There is also a risk of heavy rain in parts of Austria on Tuesday. The rest of the week will also be characterised by thunderstorms, the metrology institute reported on Sunday.
Monday will be mostly sunny until later in the morning. Then cumulus clouds will become noticeable, bringing rain showers and thunderstorms, especially in the mountains and the north and east. The tendency towards thunderstorms will decrease again in the evening hours. Apart from thunderstorms, the wind blows weakly to moderately from the east to the southwest. Temperatures in the morning will be between four and 13 degrees, and in the afternoon, between 19 and 26 degrees.
Overall, the sky will be mostly cloudy, and the sun will only appear briefly on Tuesday. Repeated rain showers and thunderstorms are to be expected from Salzburg eastward. There is a risk of heavy rain. The wind will be weak to moderate in the north and east and occasionally brisk to strong from the north to the southeast. The lowest temperatures will be eight to 16 degrees, and the highest temperatures during the day will be 16 to 23 degrees.
The weather in Austria will be dominated by disturbances on Wednesday. In addition to numerous dense clouds, the sun rarely appears until the evening. There will also be widespread rain at first. However, the centre of precipitation will shift to the south side of the Alps and south-eastern Austria as the day progresses. Localized thunderstorms can also be expected here in the afternoon. The wind will blow moderately to briskly from the west, especially in the north and east. Temperatures in the morning are forecast to be between 10 and 17 degrees, with daytime highs of 16 to 23 degrees.
The first cumulus clouds will soon form from the mountains and hills on Thursday in still unstable air. By the evening, these will bring showers and thunderstorms over the Alpine peaks, but also generally from East Tyrol eastwards to south-east Styria and the eastern edge of the Alps. Further north and east, however, the tendency for showers will be much lower. The wind will be moderate from Upper Austria eastwards into the afternoon, sometimes brisk from the west. However, the wind will subsequently die down. Six to 14 degrees are expected in the morning. During the day, however, temperatures could rise to between 18 and 24 degrees.
Under the influence of disturbances, spring clouds will increasingly replace the sunshine during the day on Friday. By the evening, widespread rain showers and thunderstorms are expected again, especially in the mountains and hills and generally in eastern Austria. It will probably remain largely dry in the south and southeast. Winds will be weak to moderate, with temperatures in the morning between eight and 15 degrees. Daytime highs will reach 18 to 25 degrees.
