The Vienna River’s water levels have continued to fall throughout the day, and the Danube Canal’s water level is expected to fall today, Wednesday. The dismantling of the flood protection measures is well advanced; almost all of the dam beams have now been removed. The overhead lines of the U6 are gradually being repaired.

Subway service from September 18:
Wiener Linien currently assumes that the following lines will be in operation starting today:

  • U2: continuous service between Schottentor and Seestadt
  • U3: continuous operation between Ottakring and Simmering
  • U4: test runs successfully completed, therefore also continuous service between Heiligenstadt and Hütteldorf
  • U6: Continuous service on the U6 line will not be possible tomorrow morning. Massive water ingress occurred in the Längenfeldgasse – Niederhofstraße area. Wiener Linien and the Vienna professional fire department are currently pumping out the affected areas. The U6 is therefore still unable to run between Westbahnhof and Meidling station. Passengers are advised to use lines 6, 18 and 59A. Line 62 is also available as a replacement; it has been extended and will run from Lainz via Meidling S U station – Margaretengürtel U – Westbahnhof S U – Burggasse, Stadthalle U.
