Vienna, 18 October 2024 – The United Nations Women’s Guild (UNWG) hosted its annual Charity Awards Ceremony at the United Nations in Vienna, gathering members, donors, and supporters to celebrate the organization’s impactful work in improving the lives of children worldwide.

The event, moderated by Ruiqing Zhou, highlighted the UNWG’s ongoing efforts and recognized the generosity of those who contribute to its mission of making the world a better place for children. President Cathy Kiefer and 2nd Vice President Karissa Laughter delivered powerful speeches, both emphasizing the core values of the UNWG and the vital importance of its charitable projects. “Our mission is clear,” stated Kiefer. “We are here to join hands, to unite in our shared goal of supporting children in need. Together, we change lives.”

Laughter echoed this sentiment, reflecting on the organization’s work across various continents and the long-term impact of its projects. A video presentation showcased the breadth of the UNWG’s activities throughout 2023, offering a glimpse into the numerous completed projects. From educational programs and medical aid to essential infrastructure developments, these initiatives have transformed the lives of children from marginalized communities. The presentation was met enthusiastically, reinforcing the importance of continued support and collaboration.

As intermission numbers, there were performances by children: Hoorui Qui, who played a wonderful piano rendition, and Fangfei Zu Xu, who played a beautiful violin piece.

The ceremony’s highlight was the awarding of certificates to the beneficiaries of UNWG’s projects for 2024. These organizations and initiatives represent the future of the UNWG’s mission, as they will receive financial support to continue their work in various regions worldwide. The beneficiaries expressed their gratitude, underscoring the significance of the support they will receive in the coming year.

In closing, the UNWG encouraged everyone to attend the upcoming UNWG International Bazaar, which will be held on 30 November 2024 at the Austria Centre. The Bazaar is one of the Guild’s largest annual fundraising events, where cultures worldwide come together to support children’s welfare. With free admission, the event promises a vibrant showcase of global traditions, arts, and cuisines, offering a unique opportunity for the community to unite for a great cause.

As the event concluded, the UNWG reminded all those present that it is through collective efforts—through the joining of hands—that we can continue to make a difference for children worldwide.
