Today, what was expected to be a seamless journey from our hotel in Antalya to the stunning region of Cappadocia was interrupted by an unexpected event. Our group planned to depart at 8 a.m., setting a course to reach Konya and eventually Cappadocia within six hours. The itinerary included a tour of Konya, renowned for its historical treasures such as the icons of St. Paul and Barnabas.
However, the start of our day took an unforeseen turn. Due to a large-scale bicycle tour in Antalya, the main roads were closed to traffic. This sudden roadblock forced us to return to our hotel and patiently wait for the event to conclude. The scenic city was filled with the excitement of the race, but for us, it meant hours of delay.
Once the roads were cleared, we resumed our journey, navigating through the rolling landscape with anticipation. Despite the setback, we arrived at our hotel in Cappadocia just before 7 p.m. The exhaustion of the extended travel faded as we enjoyed a sumptuous dinner, savoring the regional flavors that provided a warm welcome after a long day.
With the evening drawing to a close, we rested, preparing for tomorrow’s eagerly awaited adventures. The day ahead promises an early start with a breathtaking hot air balloon ride over Cappadocia’s fairy chimneys, a visit to the UNESCO World Heritage Site in Göreme, and exploration of the historic village of Çavuşin. Today’s challenges only amplified our excitement for what lies ahead in this mesmerizing region.
