The study examined how often people searched for “how to become [profession]” in 2024 and revealed the world’s most popular careers.

The most searched profession was pilot, with over 432,000 searches. It was the most popular career choice in 25 countries, including the Czech Republic, Egypt, and Slovakia.

Lawyer came in second with 393,000 searches, showing a significant increase in interest compared to previous years.

Other popular careers were police officer (272,000 searches), pharmacist (272,630), and nurse (248,720). Interest in police work has risen by 440% in the last two years.
Digital professions are becoming increasingly popular
Social media has had a huge impact on career choices, with many people dreaming of becoming YouTubers—with 171,000 global searches. YouTubers were the most searched profession in 13 countries, including the UK, Singapore, and Indonesia. However, interest in this career has fallen by 11% since 2022.

Other digital professions are also gaining attention. Content creators received 52,000 searches, while social media managers recorded 36,000 searches. The technology sector is also attracting interest, with 48,000 searches for programming.

Demand for healthcare and public service professions
Healthcare remains one of the most sought-after career paths. Pharmacists were the most searched healthcare profession worldwide, with 272,000 searches, and they were particularly popular in Japan. Other popular healthcare careers include physiotherapist (244,000 searches), teacher (175,000), and nutritionist (170,000).

In the public sector, police officers topped the list with 272,730 searches, followed by nursing, midwifery, and firefighting. Although interest in a career as a doctor has increased, nursing and midwifery are searched for more frequently worldwide.

Creative and sporting careers remain popular
In the arts and entertainment industry, acting was the most searched creative career, with almost 200,000 searches. Other popular careers were voice actor, DJ, and singer.

Many people dream of sports careers, with “how to become a footballer” reaching 95,000 searches. Fitness-related careers such as personal trainers and coaches are also gaining popularity, with thousands of people looking to inspire others to adopt a healthy lifestyle.

The study shows how career preferences are evolving. Traditional careers such as law and healthcare remain popular, while social media and digital careers are attracting increasing attention globally.
