According to several rumors, Apple wants to attack the market for super-thin smartphones after Samsung. The tech giant could launch its particularly slim iPhone in the fall.

The focus of the iPhone 17 Air is said to be the thin casing. The slim design means that users will have to make some compromises. The thin iPhone will only have one camera lens, and the battery will be smaller. Some suspect that the iPhone 17 Air will struggle to last an entire day on a single charge.
Smaller than the competition
A South Korean leaker has published the first concrete details about the possible new iPhone. According to him, the battery will be smaller than in the latest Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge. The iPhone 17 Air will weigh 145 grams, be 5.5 millimeters thin, and have a 2,800 mAh battery.

Apple is therefore undercutting Samsung. The South Korean Edge weighs 163 grams and is 5.8 millimetres thick. In return, users get a second camera lens and a larger 3,900 mAh battery.

Processor and iOS 19 could help
The iPhone could get significantly more out of the battery thanks to the upcoming operating system and new processor. The latest processor is not yet known. iOS 19 is expected to extend battery life thanks to artificial intelligence.
