Starting today, 8 February, almost all business establishments in Austria will open their portals (except restaurant, hotels and indoor sports). Each customer should have 20 square meters of space in stores.
For six weeks, 22,500 stores nationwide remained down. Today, all of them – with strict Corona rules – are allowed to open up again:
Mask. Every customer must wear FFP2 protection
Distance. At least two meters from the next person.
20 m². Each person must observe 20 square meters distance from the other.
This requirement is easy to meet in small stores. It is enough if the seller counts the customers and, once the limit is reached, the next personshould wait outside.
Security
It is more complicated in the big shops. XXXLutz manager Thomas Saliger: “We have an entrance control with securitys and electronic frequency counters.” In-house bouncers have also been hired by many shopping centers for corona control.
Shopping carts
Other method: in many retail stores, such as Hofer, the number of shopping carts is adjusted to the store area. Each customer must take a cart. If there is none, they have to wait outside.
90 euro fine for distance offenders
Previously, violators had to pay 25 euros if they were caught without a mask – in the future it will be a whopping 90 euros. Attention: from now on only a FFP2 mask is accepted almost everywhere. The fine for non-compliance with the distance rule has also been increased. What previously cost 50 euros has also been increased to 90 euros.
Controls. According to VP Interior Minister Karl Nehammer, the increases are necessary because there is an increase in disregard. In any case, the police have announced random checks.
