Last day of April 2021 – 2,131 new infections with the coronavirus in Austria

On the last day of April, infection figures continue to be at a high level. In the past 24 hours, there were 2,131 new infections with the coronavirus in Austria. This is above the average of 2,007 new infections per day over the past seven days. In addition, 26 coronavirus-related deaths have been reported.

To date, there have been 618,870 positive test results in Austria. As of today (April 30, 2021, 9:30 a.m.), 10,205 people have died and 584,777 have recovered from corona virus across Austria. Currently, 1,673 people are undergoing hospitalization for Corona virus. Of these, 501 are being cared for in intensive care units.

The positive news: for the first time, more than 100,000 tests were performed in Austria within 24 hours. Specifically, 108,849 PCR tests were done, with a 7-day average positive rate of 2.92 percent.

More than three million vaccinations carried out in Austria
The number of people actively infected decreased by 97 on Friday compared to Thursday and now stands at 23,888. Since the beginning of the pandemic, 584,777 people have recovered from a Corona infection, and within the past 24 hours, 2,202 patients were considered recovered.

Deaths above average
The number of deaths related to Covid 19 disease increased by 26 in the past 24 hours, well above the seven-day average of 21.4 Corona deaths per day. Over the past week, 150 deaths have been recorded in Austria. Since the start of the pandemic, 10,205 have died from or with Covid-19.

The number of hospitalized patients is only slowly decreasing. 1,673 people were in hospital for covid-19 illness, down by 59 from Thursday. 501 of them were in an intensive care unit, a decrease of eight from Thursday. Over the past seven days, the number of ICU patients dropped by 16.
