From Saturday to Sunday, there were 504 new Corona infections in Austria. Compared to Sunday of the previous week (673), the number again decreased significantly.
On Sunday, this dropped the seven-day incidence back below the 50 mark – it was 48.1 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. The province with the highest seven-day incidence is currently Tyrol with 72.9, followed by Vorarlberg, Upper Austria and Styria (72, 55.2 and 54.2, respectively). Carinthia (46.1), Vienna (43.7), Lower Austria (37), Burgenland (30.9) and Salzburg (24.9) follow.
Currently, there are 7,945 active cases in Austria, 392 fewer than on Saturday. Since the outbreak of the epidemic, 622,889 people have recovered. In the past 24 hours, 891 have recovered, but five deaths have also been reported (the seven-day average was 10.3 daily), bringing the pandemic’s death toll in the country to 10,546 so far. Per 100,000 population, 118.5 people have died from or with Covid-19.
As of Sunday, 619 people (down 60) were in hospitals, down 60 from the last count. 236 people are being cared for in intensive care units. That number dropped by six since yesterday and is down 57 patients in a week.
In the past 24 hours, 465,851 PCR and rapid antigen tests were reported. The positive rate of PCR tests was 0.7 percent, which is the average for the past week.
53,816 vaccinations have been carried out on Saturday, which means that 3,326 473 have already received at least a partial vaccination, according to the data of the E vaccine: That is 37.4 percent of the population. 1.26, or 14.1 percent of Austrians, are already fully immunized. The vaccination coverage rate is highest in Burgenland with 42.3 percent, while Vienna brings up the rear with 33.6 percent.
