Now that the European Commission has recognized the validity of the Corona vaccination certificates issued by the small states of San Marino and the Vatican, the Pope will also get his Green Passport.

In the meantime, the Vatican is considering whether to ask the faithful at Wednesday’s general audience to show a Green Passport, as is the case under Italian regulations at major events. Since the outbreak of the pandemic in Italy in February 2020, the Vatican has always complied with Italian anti-covid measures.

Vatican and San Marino recognize corona certificates
Vatican and San Marino recognize the EU’s Covid certificate, which is issued by the 27 EU member states. The vaccination campaign has been completed in both the Vatican and San Marino. The Republic of San Marino’s vaccination campaign, based on the Russian Sputnik vaccine, ended at the end of July. The small state on the Apennines with a population of about 33,000 has officially achieved herd immunity. However, citizens of San Marino do not need to show a green passport in Italy.
