In France, the number of reported new infections has again risen above the 10,000 mark. The health authorities yesterday announced 12,845 cases, bringing the total to 563,535. The number of deaths rose by 63 to 31,956, according to the data.
The situation in Paris also deteriorated again recently. According to city authorities, the highest warning level could soon be declared in the French capital.
Deputy Mayor Anne Souyris told the channel Franceinfo that two of the three criteria for the highest CoV warning level were met in Paris: The number of new infections is more than 250 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, and 100 cases among the elderly. The third criterion of a 30 percent utilization rate of intensive care beds in hospitals was also almost reached.
According to the deputy mayor, the closure of all bars and restaurants in Paris may be imminent. This measure has already been imposed in the greater area around Marseille and Aix-en-Provence. In Paris, bars have had to close at 22.00 hours since Monday. In addition, gyms remain closed and gatherings of more than ten people in public places are no longer allowed.
