In the Czech Republic, the number of new infections is rising rapidly. For the first time since the outbreak of the pandemic, the country, which has a population of eleven million, reports more than 4,000 recorded cases within one day. According to the Ministry of Health, there are 4,457 new infections, which is significantly more than the last record of 3,794. In total, the Czech Republic has reported 90,022 infections and 794 deaths since March.
Meanwhile, the Czech Republic distributes around 2.9 million respiratory masks to the country’s schools and kindergartens. The professional fire department began yesterday with deliveries from a central warehouse near Pardubice. The masks of protection class FFP2 are intended for teachers and non-educational staff.
According to the Minister of Health Roman Prymula, more than 400 students are currently infected with the corona virus every day in the Czech Republic. Almost 1,700 teachers have also been infected. The new school year began on September 1 with classroom instruction. In ten of the 14 administrative regions, secondary schools from the tenth grade onwards have since been closed again. Classes there will initially be held at home on computers for two weeks. In the Czech Republic, a state of emergency has been in effect since the beginning of the week due to the rapid increase in the number of infections.
