After a decline in numbers on Sunday and Monday, the health authorities in Germany again reported more than 4,000 new corona infections within one day, according to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) from Tuesday morning. According to the RKI, the total number is 4,122. On Thursday, the number of new infections had exceeded the 4,000 mark for the first time since April with 4,058 new infections. On Saturday there were even 4,721 newly detected cases.
According to RKI, at least 329,453 people in Germany have been proven to be infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus since the beginning of the corona crisis (data as of October 13, 0:00 am). The number of deaths in connection with corona infection was thus 9,634, 13 more than the day before. According to estimates of the RKI there are about 279,300 convalescents.
According to RKI estimates, the reproduction rate, or R-value for short, was 1.29 in Germany according to Monday’s management report (previous day: 1.40). This means that on average, one infected person infects almost 1.3 other people. The R-value reflects the course of infection about one and a half weeks before.
The RKI also gives a seven-day R in its current situation report. According to RKI estimates, this value was 1.25 on Monday (previous day: 1.37). It shows the infection rate from 8 to 16 days ago.
