Almost 10,000 people were in quarantine in Lower Austria on Tuesday because of the coronavirus. Meanwhile, the clusters in the province continue to grow.
Currently, 9,915 people were isolated, a spokesperson for Health Minister Ulrike Königsberger-Ludwig (SPÖ) announced.
In an integration workshop for disabled people in Ternitz (Neunkirchen district) nine cases were registered, according to the spokesperson. In a nursing and care center in Zistersdorf (Gänserndorf district), the number of infected persons rose by three to 23.
In connection with the central warehouse of a grocery chain in St. Pölten, three more cases were also detected, where ten infected persons were counted. The screening of all 400 employees should be completed on (tomorrow) Wednesday. In other clusters there was “no movement” according to the office of Königsberger-Ludwig. The retirement home in Maria Enzersdorf (district of Mödling) thus continued to have 36 Covid-19 patients.
Rising infection rates also in schools
In Lower Austrian schools 43 pupils and four teachers have been reported infected since Friday, reported Provincial Councillor Christiane Teschl-Hofmeister (ÖVP) and Education Director Johann Heuras. “The schools are dealing with the moderately increasing numbers in a very professional manner and are making the necessary decisions quickly in coordination with the health authorities,” the report said in a mailing.
