The decision of the traffic light commission was made on Thursday evening. For the first time four districts will be switched to red, the highest risk level applies. The Minister of Health will officially present the switch tomorrow, Friday. In a recommendation from experts to the commission, nine districts were originally up for debate. The federal capital Vienna will remain orange as before.

Red will now be: Hallein (Salzburg), Wels (Upper Austria) Innsbruck-City and Innsbruck-Land (Tyrol)

These districts are switched from yellow to orange:

In Carinthia: St. Veit an der Glan and Hermagor (application for yellow switching rejected), in Lower Austria Baden, St. Pölten-Land, Tulln, Wiener Neustadt (Land) and St. Pölten-Stadt, in Upper Austria Steyr-Stadt, Grieskirchen, Ried im Innkreis, Schärding, Wels-Land and Rohrbach, in Salzburg Salzburg-Land and St. Johann im Pongau, in Styria Voitsberg and Bruck-Mürzzuschlag, in Tyrol Kufstein, Imst and Schwaz, in Burgenland Oberwart.

Switch from green to yellow:

In Carinthia: Klagenfurt (city and state), in Lower Austria Horn (Melk and Scheibbs are downgraded to yellow), in Upper Austria Perg and Steyr Land, in Salzburg Tamsweg and Zell am See, in Styria Deutschlandsberg, Leibnitz, Leoben, Weiz, Murtal, Hartberg-Fürstenfeld and Liezen.

High risk
According to the Ministry of Health, the epidemiological situation can be described in the traffic light color red (very high risk): High number of newly identified cases of unexplained source, uncontrolled spread of clusters, predominance of local clusters with extensive regional distribution or testing capacity at the limit.

The official Corona traffic light of the government is available at corona-ampel.gv.at.

The Ministry of Education has developed its own corona traffic light for schools, which shows which measures come into effect at each level.
