1,747 new infections with the coronavirus have been reported in Austria by Saturday (9.30 a.m.) This is stated in the daily update from the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Health. This is significantly more than the previous day (1,163) and exceeds the previous record of Thursday (1,552).
So far there have been 63,134 positive test results in Austria. Nationwide, 890 people have died as a result of the corona virus, 48,771 have recovered. Thus, there were a total of 13,473 cases with proven virus on Saturday. On Saturday, 734 persons were undergoing hospital treatment due to SARS-CoV-2 and 133 of them were in intensive care units.
The new infections since the last report are divided among the provinces of Austria as follows:

Carinthia: 47
Lower Austria: 266
Upper Austria: 226
Salzburg: 159
Styria: 122
Tyrol: 225
Vorarlberg: 78
Vienna: 599
Of the 225 new infections in Lower Austria since Friday reported by the provincial medical staff, the majority are divided into smaller clusters in families, according to the office of Ulrike Königsberger-Ludwig (SPÖ), the health state councillor of Lower Austria, 31 new cases are related to the school system. There were also new infections in three clusters in nursing homes. In Zistersdorf (district Gänserndorf) the number rose from 32 to 33, in Maria Enzersdorf (district Mödling) from 40 to 41 and in the care center St. Peter in der Au (district Amstetten) from eight to twelve.
