Anschober appeals: Skip Halloween, stay at home during autumn vacation
Health Minister Rudolf Anschober today rejected criticism of the latest regulation in the Ö1 “Morgenjournal”. The publication had been delayed, he said, because it first had to be agreed with the coalition partner and legal experts. The population has now time to prepare itself, because the new rules will only come into force on Sunday at 0 o’clock. One sees the largest risk at present with small ceremonies and celebrations, therefore the regulation seizes particularly within this range.
No less than three upcoming occasions worry the Minister of Health: the autumn vacations, Halloween and All Saints’ Day. He appeals to the population to stay at home during the autumn vacations if possible and not to undertake large journeys, to skip Halloween this year rather once and to stick to recommendations of the churches, which are at present worked out, at All Saints’ Day.
In containing the virus, the government is relying on a double strategy: on the one hand, tighter regulations at the federal level, and on the other hand regional measures in those districts that have a higher risk. This should complement each other well, said Anschober: “I am optimistic that we can prevent the worst-case scenario.
