The US Food and Drug Administration has approved the drug Remdesivir for the treatment of Covid-19 disorders. This was announced in a press release published on Thursday. Previously, the drug from US manufacturer Gilead Sciences had emergency approval there. In Europe, Remdesivir was the first drug to receive conditional approval in July for the specific treatment of certain covid-19 patients.
According to the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Remdesivir may shorten the duration of coronavirus infection. This has been sufficiently proven.
However, the World Health Organization (WHO) last week announced that several potential corona drugs that had been tested in global trials had shown little or no benefit. Among them was Remdesivir. However, the data from the WHO-coordinated solidarity study had not yet been published in a peer-reviewed journal and had not been verified by scientists.
